THE SKULL WITHIN THE RITES

The primary purpose of ‘the skull within the ceremonies’ is to act as a key to spiritual processes. Knowledge that instantly lifts the entire group many steps further along the path frequently emerges through the skull and from the other side of the grave.

The skull turns into the prophetic skull. When the skull was utilized in this manner more frequently in the past, it was held in the hands and questioned. “Yes” would be the response if the skull felt lighter. “No” would be the response if the head felt heavier. Nowadays, the skull is positioned in the middle of a circle in a room that has been darkened, and questions are posed to its spirit instead of being held in the hands. Every person allows their thoughts to wander until the answers begin to emerge.

The animistic representation of the clan ancestors, the totem skull, is also present. Acting as a potent reminder of their protection, knowledge, and presence. It serves as a direct conduit between the clan’s surviving members and its deceased members by embodying the spirits of the ancestors. This relationship is a source of guidance and assistance.

By the mysteries of the deep,

by the flames of Banal,

 by the Power of the East

and the silence of the night,

by the Holy Rites of Hecate,

 I conjure and exorcise thee.

I conjure thee, Human Spirit,

by the Ineffable Name of God,

 written on this sheet,

but not to be Pronounced;

Answer me exactly,

without enigma or pretense.

Make known the power which aids thee.

I command thee

Amen. Amen. Amen.
